One of the greatest perks of being a guest blogger for Little Pink Blog is the amazing opportunity to review new products. Recently I tried items from the RAMY beauty therapy ® collection, just in time for the Oscars!

Every year, awards season means much more than just recognizing the talent of deserving actors and actresses; it gives fashionistas a reason to curl up next to the television and day dream. We drool over the luxurious gowns, the sparkling jewels and of course the shoes—waiting patiently for the day that we can feel A-list glamorous.

But why wait?

It’s easy to create a red carpet-worthy look on a budget—if you have the right tools.

I’ve always been a bit skeptical of cosmetic lines who boast about their ability to make you look like a starlet. Many brag that you can create a celeb-inspired look with little to no effort; but time and time again I’ve been let down.

That was until I discovered RAMY beauty therapy ® .

I’ve never been one who can easily recreate a sultry smoky-eye or properly line my lips and shape my brows for that matter—but with a little help from renowned celebrity makeup artist, Ramy Gafni, I’ve been able to master some serious skills I never knew I had.

It’s true—celebs need to look their absolute best on Oscar night, but what every day fashionistas? We all love to look and feel our best, and thankfully, Ramy has been gracious enough to share his red carpet makeup tricks; all which certainly are easy for you to try at home for your own special event.

Ramy’s Oscar winning clients include Cher, Halle Berry, Marisa Tomei, Renee Zellweger and Timothy Hutton…oh yes, you heard right…Mr. Hutton! Ramy’s easily-to-implement approach lets each and every individual create flawless, natural looks—a major plus when you want to look effortlessly fierce.

Want to recreate the glitz, glamour and excitement of the Oscars? Give it a try with these trouble-free tips:

  • 1. Add a highlighter high up on cheekbones to add a dewy glow to skin while simultaneously playing up your cheekbones.

For this look, I used RAMY Pure Juice Highlighter; little did I know it could be used for so much more! Waking up before the sunrise every morning typically leaves me looking puffy eyed and worn—no matter how many hours of sleep I may have gotten. After exploring the RAMY website I found a great tip to help you wake up your eyes—simply add the Pure Juice Highlighter across your lids, focusing on the inner corner of your eyes, near the tear ducts, where the darkness is most intense. This simple trick made me look more awake than ever and I’ve never thought my eyes have looked more big and beautiful.

  • 2. Apply bold eyeliner to upper lash line, extending the liner slightly past your outer eye. Add mascara to upper lash line only.

For my eyes I used RAMY’s Perfect Eye Wand and for my lashes it was RAMY’s One Stop Shopping Mascara that came to the rescue. Now, it may have been my severe lack of makeup know-how, but I had never realized how much of an impact mascara could have when only used on your upper lashes. It dramatically lifted the look of my eyes and made my cosmetic-enhanced face seem cleaner, and frankly less made-up. No heavy clumps or spiky lashes either; the end result was a smooth, defined lash line…

PIRET & TAMARA

For my latest Little Pink Book PR post I had the extreme pleasure of testing out some of the latest and greatest cosmetics to hit the makeup industry.

With a very special thanks to Annie Naslund, from Tractenberg & Co., I have compiled a beauty review on these fabulous PIRET & TAMARA products that I highly reccommend:

Let’s be serious, very few fashionistas are lucky enough to have their own personal makeup artists at their beck and call.

Some of us are crafty and creative, mixing vibrant shadows and contouring blush, but then there are the select few of us much less make-up savvy, who can barely apply eyeliner.

We all have one common goal though—to look fabulously fierce.

One can easily get lost among various brushes, lip stains and plucking apparatuses; so it’s vital for every fashionista to find that one product line that makes it easy for you to navigate through your morning beauty routine.

We want something effortless, clean and all around classic. Something that not only looks natural but feels natural; and something designed for even the most makeup-incompetent… yet will still leave anyone looking red carpet-ready.

It’s true that no one really knows makeup better than the experts. That’s why makeup artists Piret Aava and Tamara Palumbo created a line to meet not only their own needs but the needs of every woman who wants to look utterly fantastic.

From its richly pigmented silicone shadows to glossy lip color, PIRET & TAMARA combines superior ingredients and innovative technology for a flawless product.

When I asked about their inspiration for the fresh new product line Piret and Tamara stated simply that, “[they] wanted to create a unique makeup collection for everyone– from the novice to the expert. Our focus is Effortless Beauty. All of our products are simple to apply and look beautiful every time without any fuss”.

There were specific things that both artists wanted to change about the products used within the makeup industry; the first being eyeshadow.

“We’ve always loved the finish of a cream eyeshadow but hated how it settled, creased and faded by the time you stepped out your front door,” explained Piret and Tamara. “This is why our Eye Silk is silicone based—it delivers the perfect creamy, smooth finish and is totally waterproof and crease proof. It stays on all day without budging”.

Being a young woman who recently entered the full-time working world I want to make sure that I looked my best everyday. After trying out some amazing product samples I was impressed; especially with Piret & Tamara “Tiger’s Eye” Eye Silk.

I have very little skill when it comes to applying eye color, I tend to stay away from creamy formulas too; I find dry powders easier to work with, especially if I make a blending mistake, which I am quite prone to. I always found dry shadows to lack any real pop of color though so I figured I’d give the Eye Silk a try. Not only was it extremely easy to work with and control but the color was gorgeous and stayed looking just as beautiful from the early morning hours straight through dinner…

Being a lover of all things fashion, it surprises me that our society still hasn’t been able to completely look past the physical. Clothing, whether it’s comfy causal wear or high-fashion couture really is a form of art created fo all to enjoy…so why then do only the most rail thin individuals have the opportunity to model it?

In my latest piece for Little Pink Book PR I covered the debut of NYFW’s first-ever plus-size runway show! Here’s a sneak peek:

You do not have to be stick thin and epically proportioned to love fashion– so why does that seem to be a prerequisite to market it?

Whether it is working the catwalk, posing in an editorial or flaunting the latest trends across strategically placed billboards, models make their presence known.

Each entices the viewer to take a closer look at the brand they are representing, and inevitably are used to spark a connection and build relationships with the consumer.

Why then do they tend to represent an insignificant percentage of style connoisseurs?

According to the British Association of Modeling Agents (AMA), “female models should be around 34-24-34 in (86-61-86 cm) and between 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) and 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) tall”.

The AMA goes on to list a wealth of other requirements such as “clear skin, good hands, nails and teeth, healthy hair and regular features”.

Just curious but what exactly are considered “regular” features?

Slowly, the fashion industry has become wise to the fact that these qualifications aren’t necessarily the norm.

Clothing is created for all people and should be modeled for all people. Fashionistas come in all shapes and sizes and so should those who promote the collections.

Super stylish Hollywood starlets such as Nikki Blonsky, Gabourey Sidibe, model Emme and KayCee Stroh, got to witness the progression of the fashion industry first hand Wednesday, as they sat front row during New York Fashion Week’s first-ever plus-size runway show…
